Sandra Dubose-Gibson is coming to a North Carolina Public Library near you!
Sandra Dubose-Gibson is clearly on her way to becoming the next international, multimedia sensation. She is a professional performing artist with talent to spare. This multitalented entrepreneur is the fresh, new dynamic voice in motivational speaking today. She is an insightful, young independent filmmaker, recording artist, actress and professional entertainer captivating audiences though her words and song, on stage and on the radio.
Sandra’s life itself is a true testament to the power of faith and the infinite potential of the human spirit in everyone. At the age of 25, she was faced with the incurable auto immune disease, Alopecia Universalis, which resulted in the complete loss of all of her hair. She was forced into a compelling journey of self discovery and self acceptance and has emerged a living example that true beauty comes from within.
On Saturday, March 26, 2011, Sandra competed in a beauty pageant and won the crown of 2011 Mrs. Black North Carolina. Sandra has made history as the 1st Bald Beauty Queen to be crowned in North Carolina. She travels throughout the state promoting her platform of Alopecia Areata awareness and healthy self esteem in women of all ages.
To promote Alopecia Awareness Month in September, Sandra is proud to present her debut documentary film, "Project Liberation- My Alopecia Experience." The fill will be presented in one public library branch, within 8 cities, throughout North Carolina. This initiative is called, "The Project Liberation Movement." After the film, Sandra will facilitate an open discussion and Q & A session with the audience. Sandra say's, "It is important for women to begin to challenge and explore their definition of beauty. We cannot define ourselves by our physical attributes alone nor can we measure our worth, by comparing ourselves to stereotypes of a one dimensional view of beauty perpetuated by the media. It is time to get free, build up our self esteem and love ourselves today. Higher consciousness is calling and the answer is coming to a library near you!"
